Description
Many grinding, EDM, and CNC milling machines have turned to oil-based coolants for greater precision in production. Oil-based coolants significantly increase the risk of fire. This unique industrial design of the controller is suitable for all types of PLC controllers and fit into any type of CNC machines.
This system is suitable for fire detection and activation of fire suppression systems used in CNC machines.
It provides a communication interface between PLC of CNC machine and FireChase Panel. It is built with features of an industrial fire system including fault monitoring of internal and external circuits. The communication interface provides PLC and CNC operator notifications regarding fire system conditions.
Requirements for Fire-Fighting in CNC Machines
In order to avoid damage to the machine from potential fires, the system must extinguish the fire within 5-7 seconds.
A fire under a closed machine canopy is fuelled by a continuous flow of:
– Flammable coolant oil sprayed under high pressure
– Air from the exhaust ventilation of the machine
Extinguishing the flame inside the machine imposes very specific requirements on the fire detection and extinguishing system:
– Quick detection response to fire (1-2 seconds)
– Discharge the extinguishing system without a standard delay
– Very quick discharge of the extinguishing agent (5-7 seconds)
– Coordination of the actions of the extinguishing system and the operation of the machine
– Immediate disconnection of the power supply to the machine using the fire protection system
– Autonomous operation of the fire system after disconnecting the power supply
– Replacement of the system within a few hours after extinguishing a fire to minimize losses from machine downtime
Fire from one ignited machine can easily spread to other machines on the production line through the general ventilation system.
